Once again this year, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has mailed out letters to select taxpayers about their business, professional or employment activities. These letters are sent to tax payers that are at risk of misunderstanding their tax obligations and encourage them to correct any inaccuracies in their past income tax and benefit returns.
The campaign which began in 2010, involves two types of letters that are sent to selected taxpayers; the first provides education about specific claims made of their own returns and the other is simply to notify them that the CRA may conduct an audit within their activity group.
As part of this year’s campaign, the CRA will be sending approximately 30,000 letters to select taxpayers.
If you receive such a letter and need clarification as to its purpose or need any assistance filing adjustments to correct any inaccuracies please contact us at 705.969.2224 or by email.
